- Promote quarry visits and encourage members to make contact
with schools and host open days and making use of the Make the
Link information pack
- Liaise with careers service and Education strategy unit to
influence teacher awareness of the industry.
- Set up Company clusters around new college groups.
- Liaison with ANIC, DEL and DE to ensure that quarry products
related jobs are fairly and accurately represented in advice
and materials.
- Encourage members attendance at college and school careers
days.
- Facilitate links with colleges and schools and encourage
companies to offer support to course students and be more open
to work experience placements.
- Encourage and support arrangement of college visits to quarries,
particularly for construction related students.
- Liaise with HE institutions to offer more typically quarry-related
courses. Highlight how skills from almost any degree may well
be transferable to careers in our industry.
- Encourage presentations and talks to students on the opportunities
within the industry. These to be carried out by “industry
champions”.
- Number of site educational visits.
- Number of new entrants into the industry

- Age profile of the industry
- Attendance at careers days and open days
